Welcome to Newport Civic Society. Our new website is under construction, and will be available in the next few months.

In the meantime, here is our programme for the season 2009 - 2010.

Sept 10th:
Outing to Gloucester to meet members of its Civic Society, departing St. Mark's at 10 a.m. and leaving Gloucester at 5.30. p.m. We will be using T.J Davies' Community bus, which is free but has only fourteen places. If more are needed, we will have to take cars.

Oct 8th:
Search and Rescue in the Newport City Area, an Unsung, Unknown, yet Necessary Service.

Nov 12th:
Archaeological Developments and Discoveries at Caerleon.
Speaker, Mark Lewis, Curator of the Museum.

Dec 10th:
Christmas Lunch. [Probably at the Ruperra Arms.]

Jan 14th:
The Millennium Centre and Welsh National Opera, enormous assets for Wales.
Speaker, Simon Rees.

Feb 11th:
Policing the Streets of Newport with the Special Constabulary.
Speaker, Ian Riley, Divisional Officer.

Mar 11th:
Serving Britain. World War Two Ordinance Factories in South Wales and Monmouthshire.
Speaker, Michael Clubb.

Apr 8th:
The Newport Development Plan and the Recession.
Speaker, John Burrows of Newport Unlimited.

May 13th:
A.G.M. followed by a Debate on Newport Chartists, to be remembered with pride or better forgotten.
Speakers Anne Gatehouse & Andrew Willie.

Jun 10th:
Annual Dinner, with Rosemary Butler, AM., as guest speaker, at 7.30 pm., at the Waterloo Inn.
